‘don’t let the little head think for the big head’, don’t let the belly think for the brain, the ego think for the soul.
1. Do what you set out to do whether you feel like it or not. If you said you’re going to do it, even to yourself or in your planner, get it done. It’s never the right decision to avoid doing something that has to be done because of feelings. Feelings are lies, they too often betray who we can be, forcing us to settle for who it’s easy to be.
You can’t have a good life if feelings get in the way of action.
2. Don’t do the things that make you feel bad about who you are. Most often these things are pleasures in the moment that bring pain and guilt in the long run. The crap food that tastes good but takes years off your life, energy out of your day, and makes you feel like crap. The laziness, the avoidance of work, the TV, the porn, the frivolous spending, the cheating, so on and so forth.
Don’t do things that can and will make you feel bad about who you are no matter how tempting they may be, or how easy they may be, in the present.
For the fellas this can mean ‘don’t let the little head think for the big head’, don’t let the belly think for the brain, the ego think for the soul.
Be your own man.
Don’t betray who you can be for who it’s easy to be…
…For who society will lead you to believe you ought to be…
…For who you’re pushed to be…
Don’t betray potential because of pride…
Don’t betray your character because of ease and complacency…
Don’t choose pleasure over pain and purpose.
